City Leaders Push Soda Tax to Fund Early Childhood Education
SANTA FE, NM, NOVEMBER 10, 2016 – Numerous Santa Fe politicians, following a national movement that could put them at war with soda manufacturers, plan to ask voters to increase taxes on sugary drinks to finance more early childhood education programs. Mayor Javier Gonzales and at least three city councilors propose to add a 2-cents-per-ounce tax on soda, sweetened teas and other drinks with sugar. Read more.
